Manufacturers of processed foods are aware of the incredible deficiency of nutrients in their foods. For that reason some manufacturers took it upon themselves to add synthetic vitamins and minerals to their processed foods to compensate for what was lost during such processing.
Taking large amounts of synthetic nutrients can have harmful health effects. Recommended daily doses are safe for most people, but caution is advised.
However, synthetic nutrients are NOT a good replacement for the nutrients found in whole foods.
Simply put, if the vitamin concentrations
ARE high and/or their natural sources aren’t listed, most likely these vitamins are synthetic. Chemical sources for synthetic vitamin supplements include petrochemicals, coal tar, chemically manipulated sugar and inorganic minerals.
So how can synthetic vitamins and/or minerals be healthy for you? Food manufacturers in order to keep high profits they attempt to increase the healthy benefits of their food by adding more chemicals in the form of vitamins and minerals instead of packaging and selling “real food.” So now we don’t only have to worry about the dangers of processed foods, but the dangers of their manipulation of “fake” synthetic vitamins and minerals inserted in their products.
Real foods contain much more than just the standard vitamins and minerals that the body needs. Eating processed foods provides such extremely low essential nutrients compared to whole, unprocessed foods, that we are forced to eat 3 to 4 times as much to get the nutrients the body needs. This doesn’t even take into account the addicting properties of processed foods, that make us eat even more, to the point that we are never wholly satisfied.
Real foods… like plants and animals, contain thousands of other trace nutrients that science is still trying to learn about, and synthetic replacements could not ever simulate or replace.
Unfortunately the masses are constantly looking for that one pill, that one drink that will cure or resolve all. It would be a sad day in the history of nutrition if one day we invent a chemical blend that we believe can replace all these nutrients. That will be the downfall of a healthy human race as we know it. The only way to satisfy the nutritional needs of our bodies is to get the necessary nutrients from whole, unprocessed foods.
The more you eat of processed foods, the less you will get of vitamins, minerals,
antioxidants and various trace nutrients the body needs and the deeper you’ll be going down that rabbit hole, till it’s too late to get out.
In conclusion: Neither processed foods nor synthetic vitamins and minerals will ever provide your body the necessary nutrients to stay healthy and live a good quality of life.
